Centerburg’s promising start to the season hit a bump Friday night, but the Trojans remain determined to show their fight. Just a week removed from a commanding 34-0 shutout over Utica, Centerburg fell on the road to Johnstown-Monroe, 42-14.
The Trojans battled throughout but were undone by an electric performance from Johnstown-Monroe’s Ryan Sager, who scored all six of the Johnnies’ touchdowns. Despite Sager’s outburst, Centerburg continued to push late, showing grit that carried over from their opening-week dominance.
Centerburg’s young roster is still settling in, and early-season lessons like Friday’s loss could prove valuable down the stretch. The Trojans showed flashes of offensive rhythm and will look to build on those positives as they move deeper into their schedule.
The setback dropped Centerburg to 1-1, but the Trojans remain optimistic. Head coach Andy Colella’s group has already proven its ability to bounce back, and the road ahead offers opportunities to reset.
Centerburg hits the road for the first time Friday night in a matchup at Worthington Christian, where the Trojans will aim to get back in the win column and continue their climb toward a strong season.
